SuperPower FX Beta Licence Agreement
Version 1.5 (beta), 2026-10-20
This agreement is between you, the person invited to the SuperPower FX beta ("you"), and Pro-Motion, the author of SuperPower FX ("we"). It covers the beta versions 1.x of SuperPower FX: the After Effects plug-in, its rendering engine, the scripting file, the AI skill, the documentation, the installer and the files that come with them ("the Software"). By installing or using the Software you accept this agreement. If you do not accept it, do not install or use the Software.
1. The beta
SuperPower FX 1.x is pre-release software, available only by invitation. Invitations come from us or from other participants (section 5). To use the Software you need an account on our website, activated with an invitation (section 14). The Software may contain errors, change between builds, and differ from any later public version. The beta lasts until we announce its end; invitations stay valid until then.
2. Licence
We grant you a free, personal, non-exclusive licence, which you cannot transfer, to install and use the Software on the computers you use, for any purpose, including commercial work for yourself and for clients. The beta is for local use: render farms and network render nodes are not supported. You use it at your own risk: back up your projects.
3. What you create is yours
The graphics code, element settings and control values you or your AI assistant write are stored in your After Effects projects. They belong to you (or to whoever owns them under your own agreements), together with everything you render with SuperPower FX. We claim no rights in them.
4. Showing your work and the beta
You may publish, sell and show anything you make with the Software. You may also show and talk about the Software itself (screenshots, videos, reviews), as long as you say that it is a beta and link to the official SuperPower FX page.
5. What you may not do
Except as allowed in sections 4 and 7 or by applicable law, you may not:
- give, publish or share the Software, its installer or its files; give people an invitation instead;
- sell, rent or lease the Software, or charge for it;
- remove or change copyright, licence or attribution notices;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software.
You may install the AI skill in your AI assistants and adapt it for your own use with SuperPower FX.
Invitations. When your account is activated, you receive 5 invitations for other people, which you see on our website. You may give them to anyone. Each invitation activates one new account and cannot be used again.
6. Feedback
If you send us feedback, ideas, bug reports or example elements, you allow us to use them freely to improve and promote SuperPower FX, without payment or obligation. Tell us when you send an element that you do not want published.
7. Third-party components
The Software includes components from other authors, such as Electron/Chromium, ffmpeg, libraries and fonts. Each is licensed under its own terms, listed in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt. For those components, their licences take precedence over this agreement, and nothing in this agreement limits the rights they give you. In particular, for components under the GNU Lesser General Public License you may replace them with modified versions, and you may modify and reverse engineer the Software as far as needed to do that and to debug such modifications.
8. Usage data and network
The beta uses the technical and usage data described below to test and improve the Software, if you allow it. The Software is online by default, and the installer asks whether you want to use it offline instead and whether usage statistics may be sent (they are not sent unless you choose so). You can change both in the settings at any time.
When offline mode is selected, the Software does not record or send the data described below for usage-statistics purposes. This does not prevent it from writing the local logs and temporary preview images described below. If the Software remains in online mode during a temporary loss of internet connectivity, usage-statistics data is queued and sent when the connection is restored.
Accepting this agreement does not by itself constitute consent to data processing for which applicable law requires separate consent. This section does not replace any consent or other legal basis required by applicable law.
In online mode, and only if you allow usage statistics, the Software sends:
- technical data: versions of SuperPower FX, After Effects, the operating system and the graphics card; crashes, hangs, render errors and render times;
- usage data: how often and how long the Software is used, which features and kinds of controls are used, and how many elements are created and changed.
This data is associated with a random installation identifier. We do not link that identifier to your account, your name, your e-mail address or the invitation you used, and we do not store your network address with that data. These measures do not necessarily make the data anonymous; it may remain personal data under applicable law.
The Software does not send your element code, the names of your projects, compositions or layers, file paths, text values, renders or any other content of your projects as usage statistics. A crash report that would include such content is sent only if you agree to that report.
We use the data to improve SuperPower FX, to measure its stability and use, and to set the terms and prices of later versions. We do not sell it. We retain installation-level usage data for no longer than the duration of the beta and 12 months after it ends, subject to any shorter period required by applicable law. After that, we delete it or retain only summary counts that qualify as anonymous information under applicable law.
To request access to or deletion of your installation's usage data, write to the support address in section 10 and provide the installation identifier shown in the settings. This procedure does not limit any rights you have under applicable data-protection law. See also the Privacy Notice (PRIVACY.md).
Element code itself has no network and no file access (see the documentation). The beta writes logs and temporary preview images on your computer. The public release is planned without usage tracking; this section covers the beta.
9. When the beta ends
We may end the beta, or your participation, at any time by telling you. Later versions of SuperPower FX may be offered under different terms, including paid ones; this agreement gives no right to them. When the beta ends you may keep using the beta version you have to open, edit and render your projects. We do not have to provide further builds, updates or support.
While you are online, the plug-in checks for updates, downloads them by itself if you allow it in Settings, and installs them when you click Update. We may declare a beta version no longer supported. We tell you so in the plug-in. From the first notice, 14 days pass without restrictions. In the following 7 days the plug-in shows a notice in every session with the days left. After that a version that is not supported may draw a watermark on its output with a request to update. Opening, editing and rendering your projects keep working; the watermark can be removed by installing a supported version.
10. Support
We may answer questions and fix problems, but we have no obligation to. Contact: support@pro-motion.dev.
11. No warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
12. Limitation of liability
Nothing in section 11 or this section excludes or limits any statutory warranty, right, remedy or liability to the extent that applicable law does not permit its exclusion or limitation. This includes, to the extent protected by applicable law, liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, breach of essential contractual duties, and violations of data-protection law.
SUBJECT TO THE PRECEDING PARAGRAPH AND TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, PROJECTS, PROFITS OR WORK TIME, ARISING FROM THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY.
SUBJECT TO THE SAME EXCEPTIONS, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE MONETARY LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE OR THIS AGREEMENT SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE BETA SOFTWARE UNDER THIS AGREEMENT. THE BETA SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, SO THAT AMOUNT IS ZERO. THIS LIMIT APPLIES REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL BASIS OF THE CLAIM, INCLUDING CONTRACT OR TORT, INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE.
The exclusions of particular types of loss and the aggregate liability limit are separate limitations. If an exclusion or limitation is unenforceable, it does not apply; any remaining independently enforceable exclusions or limitations continue to apply.
13. Termination
This licence ends automatically if you break this agreement. Then you must stop using the Software and delete it. Sections 3, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 16 survive, and section 15 as far as it concerns presets that are already published.
14. Your account
You sign in with your Pro-Motion account (through Google); we receive only its e-mail address and an account identifier. We use it to run the beta (your account, your invitations, contact about the beta). Choose a nickname when you activate your account: it is shown with the presets you publish, and your e-mail address is never shown to other participants. Your usage data (section 8) is not linked to your account. You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time; otherwise we keep it as long as we need it to contact you.
To use the Software offline, sign in on our website with your account and enter the computer code the Software shows you; you get an activation code for that computer, valid for 90 days, after which you get a new one in the same way. One account has one such activation. We may restrict an account that breaks this agreement (its online functions stop) or block it (its online activation ends at once, an offline activation when it runs out).
15. Community presets
You may publish elements you made ("presets") in the collection, browse the presets of other participants, download them and rate them. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to publish a preset. A preset is shown under your nickname.
- Publish only what you have the right to publish, and do not include client material, third-party assets you may not share, or personal data. You remain the owner of your preset.
- You allow other participants to use your preset in their own projects and renders, including commercial work, but not to republish it as a preset or in a collection.
- Presets are community presets and are not reviewed by us. They run in the sandbox of the Software without network or file access, but we give no assurance about their quality or origin.
- You can delete a preset you published at any time. It then disappears from the collection; copies already downloaded and projects that use it keep working, because the element is stored in the project.
- We may remove a preset or block publishing for an account that breaks this agreement, and we may remove a preset when someone tells us at the support address that it infringes their rights.
- The collection is free in the beta. Payments for presets may come later under separate terms.
16. General
We may transfer this agreement and our rights in the Software to a company that continues SuperPower FX. Adobe and After Effects are trademarks of Adobe; SuperPower FX is not made, endorsed or supported by Adobe. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. This is the entire agreement about the Software.
